Skiing at Sugarbush Mountain Resort, Vermont

Sugarbush, VermontHistory of Sugarbush

Sugarbush features two fantastic ski mountains; Lincoln Peak and Mt. Ellen. There is also a superb hotel to stay in – with a country farm castle look while also modern and cozy. One can stop at the Warren Store for coffee.

Located in the Mad River Valley, it is beautiful throughout the year. The valley has three ski areas with 155 trails and 7050 vertical feet. The Lincoln Peak is home to the infamous Castlerock area, half-pipe and terrain park. Mt Ellen is about challenging peaks and steep, uninterrupted cruising runs for skiers and snowboarders alike. One can see plenty of snowfall, huge snowmaking, good elevation, and wonderful orientation that allow visitors to enjoy one of the longest ski seasons in New England.

The resort opened in 1958 due to the effort of Damon Gadd and Jack Murphy. Roy Gohen who bought it in 1979 created a framework for the modern resort which it is today. The major expansion happened when American Skiing Company purchased the Resort. The chairlift system was expanded and the Slide Brook Express high-speed quad opened in 1995 allowing skiers and snowboarders quicker access to the whole resort.
